McCain-Palin apologists should take care of what they say.
A Republican talking point is the Alaska abuse of power statute applies to financial and not personal benefits and, since getting Wooten was a personal benfit, the finding that Palin breached the ethics act is wrong on its face.

Alaska Governor Sara Palin and the McCain-Palin campaign are doing their best to discredit the Alaska Legislative Council report. One of their arguments is it makes no sense to say that Palin’s effort to pressure Monegan to fire Wooten was an abuse of power, but Monegan’s firing for resisting the same unlawful pressure was lawful.
